Nathalie Morales is a Dutch artist and cultural thinker living and working in Amsterdam.
She investigates how identities are constructed and continuously reconfigured through images, memory, culture, technology and inherited narratives. Through collage, intuition, writing and philosophical inquiry, she explores what happens when these structures are disrupted, fragmented and recombined.

I am currently building my practice that sits between philosophy, cultural inquiry and visual art, inspired by ten years of personal philosophical inquiry and research on topics like identity, authenticity and grief.
I am interested in how we understand ourselves and the worlds we inhabit, and I use writing, conversation, observation, intuition and visual experimentation to investigate these questions.
I hold academic degrees in philosophy, communications and marketing.

I am constantly driven by questions. Some arrive through research or conversation; others begin as a feeling, image, tension or intuition I can't quite articulate yet. I follow these signals until they become questions I can investigate — through writing, conversation, research, observation and visual experimentation.
Current driving questions:
How do we become who we are — and what happens when we begin to question the structures through which we have learned to understand ourselves and the world?
What happens when our sense of identity becomes fractured — both individually and collectively?
What makes a place feel like home — and how do places, cultures and environments become part of our sense of self?
Process
My process moves between sensing and questioning, between the subjective and the cultural, between what is felt and what can be articulated.
I am currently developing and testing my method, but below is a prototype.

Cultural inquiry
For cultural organisations, creative teams and artists who are sitting with a question, tension or emerging theme.
I help explore what is happening beneath the obvious. An inquiry might begin with something you are noticing, wondering about or struggling to articulate. From there, I combine conversation, cultural and philosophical research, observation, creative methods and intuition to explore the question from different perspectives.
The aim isn't necessarily to arrive at a definitive answer, but to make something more visible: a pattern, tension, perspective, possibility or better question.

For artists and creative projects looking to deepen an emerging idea, question or body of work.
I work alongside artists through conversation, research, writing and associative exploration to investigate the cultural, philosophical or personal questions underneath a project.
